Chicago Rock ‘n’ Roll ½ Marathon

I of course came back for the second year.  However, this year I ran the race alone.  Kelly left the day before the race to spend a month in Ireland for school.  She still ran with me as I trained though (like I’ve said, she’s the best).

We spent Friday-Sunday in the city and had a blast. We took the water taxi around because it is cheap and well, just fun!

(brother, myself, and my Aunt Tara)

We found a cute place to eat lunch downtown.  Later that night we walked past it and the whole area was blocked off due to filming for Transformers.  Our lunch spot looked like it had been blown up!

Later that night we took a cruise on the “Tall Ship Windy.”  It sailed around Lake Michigan, and gave us spectacular views of the skyline at night.

The day before the race my mom, aunt, brother and I enjoyed ourselves in the city.  We love to to to the Signature Room at the Hancock tower for appetizers and drinks.  Such a fantastic view!

We also hit up the running expo- which I love!

The  morning of the race came, and I of course was super excited and NOT nervous!

(Please note the bad posture!)

The race went well, however I ran it about 8 minutes slower.  I am going to blame extreme heat on that…
