Wow, it has embarrassingly been two months since I’ve done any posting! I really do think about the blog daily, and have answered questions, I just haven’t found the time to post!
I have not gone out for a single run since my last post. NOT A SINGLE RUN! It isn’t because I haven’t wanted to go running (I’ve been dying to go), but since I’ve been breastfeeding Oliver I have lost a substantial amount of weight.
Pre-pregnancy I weighed between 126-127. I currently weigh 114 pounds. Way too thin! I knew breastfeeding burned a lot of calories, but holy cow, I didn’t realize just how many.
I have talked to other moms who lost weight while breastfeeding, but not this much. At first I thought it was great (hey, no exercise and I am back to my pre-baby body?!). Now, I am feeling frustrated! I’ve had to get belts for my pants, and I feel like I look too thin.
I have started to do small things to increase my caloric intake like switching from skim milk in my morning lattes to whole milk (never thought that would happen!). I’ve also been keeping snacks in my desk/mini fridge in my classroom (almonds, yogurt, string cheese). However, with teaching it is hard to snack all day without my students asking for some!
So, back to the lack of running… I desperately want to run, but I don’t want to do anything that could potentially make me lose more weight. Once I get my weight back up I will ease back in to running. I have gained a pound since last week, so I call that a small victory!
Please know the purpose of this post is to NOT brag about losing baby weight or being “too thin”. Like everyone, I have insecurities and right now I feel super self-conscious about my body. I’ve reverted back to my fifth grade self; wearing belts and feeling awkward!
I’d love to know if anyone else has struggled with gaining weight.. and what helped?
Morgan got me an espresso machine for my birthday, so I’ve gladly started drinking two lattes a day with whole milk 😉
So in the meantime, here are some Oliver pictures (obviously I’m biased, but I think he’s super cute).
First Christmas tree!
