Running, swimming and lack of eating

I’ve heard from about everyone I know (who has been pregnant) that I will start to feel awesome in trimester two. It hasn’t happened yet! I’m in the midst of week 16 and still suffer from the nausea. Although the nausea has subsided dramatically, it still has a big impact on my exercise and ability to eat.
I suffer the most in the morning, which is when I swim and lift weights. I have been going to swim one day a week and am hoping to bump that up to two or three this coming week. I love swimming and how I feel after, but the nausea is holding me back from getting to the gym.

Yesterday it was almost 50 degrees, which is crazy for January, so I had the highest of hopes to go for an easy run. I started with taking Charlie for a 40 minute walk, which was awesome. But after our walk I decided running was not the best option.

A few months ago I very slightly fractured my tailbone and it still hasn’t healed, so too much walking/running really aggravates it. That is why swimming is perfect right now- no impact and zero pain.

I haven’t gained any weight yet, in fact I’ve lost weight (mostly due to morning sickness). We had our 16 week appointment last Monday and my doctor said not to worry, but I should be gaining a half pound each week starting now.

I’ve been making a smoothie every morning that I am obsessed with.

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 frozen banana (sliced)
  • 1 cup frozen mango chunks
  • 1/2 avocado
  • teaspoon honey
  • 1 cup spinach

The avocado makes the smoothie extremely creamy, like a milkshake. So delicious!

If anyone has suggestions on healthy smoothies/snacks that would be helpful! I’ve been keeping almonds in my school desk to snack on throughout the day and have been really good about drinking water all day.
