Once again I stumbled across an article that is true and funny at the same time!
I was looking at my calendar last night and realized that marathon training starts next week! I am unofficially training for the Chicago half next month, but next week my training focus with switch to marathon thinking.
I will be running the Des Moines Marathon on Sunday, October 18. If you are running a marathon around that same time, your training should also be start soon.
I will post my weekly training so feel free to use it, modify it, or look under the other training plan I have created.
Here is a glance at next week:
Monday: 4 miles, lower body strength
Wednesday: 8 miles, stretching
Thursday: 5 miles, 5 x 1 minute Fartlek, 2 x 1core workout
Saturday: 4 miles, 3 x 8 second hill sprints
Sunday: 10 miles, 2 x 1 core workout
Lastly, randoms from this past week/weekend:
1. Thursday I went up to Cedar Rapids to spend the day with my mom since she had the day off. We went to craft stores, Thai for lunch, walked around downtown, and hung out a a coffee shop, The Blue Strawberry.
2. On Saturday my girlfriends and I ran in a 5k in Newton to support their arboretum. It was a great day, and so nice to be able to spend time with my friends. I did not take pictures, but trust me when I say, my friend dressed up as the cutest bumblebee.
3. Saturday afternoon I met up with my aunt Tara, cousin Jordan, and his girlfriend Britt and we went to Oskaloosa to grab a late lunch and visit Tassel Ridge Winery.
I have been to Tassel Ridge a couple times in the past and it was such a nice place! We sampled wine for a while then each had a glass on the patio.
4. Lastly, Morgan and I have chosen the color for our bedroom! Updating an old house is such a long process so I am happy to finally be able to paint our bedroom. We are going with the color “rain”.
Have a great Tuesday!
