Weekend full of family

Nothing makes me happier than having my family and friends around.

Friday started off great. My fifth graders and the other fifth grade had their Wax Museum at the end of the day. They chose a famous person back in January, researched them, wrote a paper, prepared a speech, and today they recited their memorized speech in costume in front of their family.

It was such a neat project, and we had many celebrities from presidents, to athletes, to authors, and so on. I was a very proud teacher.

My day went super quick, and I barely had time to scarf down the lemon lime quinoa salad I’ve been eating this week.

Now that my cousin Jordan and his girlfriend, Brit, are living in town I am beyond ecstatic because I get to see them weekly!

On Friday night they came over with their two dogs, my aunt Tara came down from Waterloo, and we cooked out and hung out outside.

Jordan and Brit have a malamute, Winston and he is adorable. We were so excited for him and Charlie to meet. They became instant friends. They ran around the yard and played for hours.

On Saturday morning Tara and I got up early and headed to the What Cheer Flea Market. This is the third year we have gone, and each year we find something great for ourselves.

It was a beautiful day and we did lots of walking.

I found this old, old, old dresser that is in great shape and has this beautiful mirror to go with it. I could not pass it up for $100! I am going to paint it light gray and put it in my formal living room. The mirror will go in my dining room above a buffet.

Morgan just has to go pick it up today… 🙂

I am going to spend the rest of the day with my aunt, working outside, and drinking coffee. I will post later on my half-marathon training this past week.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Charlie does not want to get up.
