Yikes, it has been yet again a while since my last post. We are moving this week so I have been busy packing and getting ready for the big move.
I won’t bore you with all of my workouts last week, but I’ll share Friday’s workout because it can be beneficial to your routine!
I started my workout with a short warmup- just an easy jog for five minutes.
These songs always get me in the mood for a good workout. Please tell me I am not the only one!
For the main workout I did 8 sprints (30 seconds at an average pace of 6:10), and each sprint was followed by 0.10 miles of slow jogging. I aimed for 10 sets, but after 8 my legs were too tired. I’ll shoot for 10 next week.
Sprints are a GREAT way to increase strength and speed. I only do sprints once a week, which is also the great thing about them.
I was not paying attention to my outfit this morning and realized once I got to the gym how cool my high top socks were. Not.
After the cardio part of my workout I did some lower body strength training.
Seated leg press – 105 pounds, 12 x 3
Leg extension- 50 pounds, 12 x 3
Hip abductor – 75 pounds, 12 x 3
Hip adductor – 75 pounds, 12 x 3
Glute extension- 25 pounds, 12 x 3
Squats (30 lbs on barbell), 12 x 3
Lunges (bodyweight), 12 x 3
I love strength training because it is a hard, short workout and I know it helps my running! For more information on strength training, read my article HERE!
After this workout I headed home to eat a quick breakfast while I got ready for work. I don’t have a lot of time in the morning so I have to multi task.
I had some toast (Food for Life – 7 sprouted grain) with almond butter and cinnamon, fruit, and a glass of soy milk.
And he begs.
It was our Valentine’s Day at school so I tried to do as many Valentines Day actives I could.
I counted 25 pieces of M&M’s and Sweet Hearts for each student and they had to figure out the percentage of each candy and color for math. Anytime you mix candy and math together they love it.
We ended the day with a party course and I got way too much chocolate and candy. 🙂
Does anyone else have serious problems with static hair this time of the year? I keep dryer sheets with my to rub in my hair… I can’t stand it!
That’s enough rambling. Ciao!
