I have not posted an update on my training for a good 2-3 weeks so I thought I would. I took about one solid week off of running due to my sore muscle (soleus) and got out of the groove of posting my weekly mileage. I have been running normal for the past two weeks and feel great. I have been taking it much slower pace wise just to make sure I am fully recovered before pushing myself. Yesterday morning I went running with three friends and we did 10 1/2 miles and it was great! My friend Kristen wore a “Mini Mule” Camelback and I’m 100% convinced I should get one. I’ll let you know.
Here is a glance at my past two weeks of running:
Week of June 2:
Monday- 3 miles @ 8:25
Tuesday- 5 miles @ 8:25
Wednesday- 5 miles @ 8:11
Thursday- Rest; 3 mile walk with Charlie
Friday- Rest; 3 mile walk with Charlie
Saturday- 4 mies @ 8:12
Sunday- 8 miles @ 8:35
Week of June 9:
Monday- 3 miles @ 8:32
Tuesday- Rest; 4 mile walk with Charlie
Wednesday- 7 miles @ 8:06
Thursday- 4 miles @ 8:48
Friday- Rest; 3 mile walk with Charlie
Saturday- 4 mies @ 8:19
Sunday- 10.5 miles @ 8:25
I usually end each run with a 2 mile walk with Charlie. He needs to get out and I need to cool down. I haven’t been taking him running with me for a while because he gets too hot, and quite honestly is a little slow for me right now. I find that taking him for 1-2 walks each day works better for us right now. He is more of a fall/winter runner. He tends to get really hot really fast and I get too paranoid in the summer with him.
I also strength train on a regular basis (4-5 days per week) and do core work. I’ll try to include that on next week’s recap.
I’m getting ready to bike to a friends house and do “Insanity” with her. I’ll let you know how that goes. I only run and bike, so I am quite terrible at any other form of exercise. I have no coordination so I’m sure it’ll be amusing.
Have a great day!
I’m going to do a post later this week of fuel during training (carbohydrate replacement). Let me know if there is anything else you would be like to discuss.
